31 Day Challenge: Day 17 (Baby Bird Pinecones)

Photobucket

Forgive the lack of progress photos today.
I saw this idea a while back on parents.com and fell in love with the adorable little pine cone birds.
After making our own, I wouldn’t recommend this for little kids. We used hot glue, which made it pretty much a mom-only project.
(Hence the lack of photos.)
The kids did help me make the feet and dig out poms, but that’s about it.
Still..they’re having fun toting their little birdies around the house now.

Supplies:
Pine cones
Chenille wires for feet
Cardstock or foam for beak
Google Eyes
Poms for eyes
Glue gun

Glue the eyes to poms, then when dry, glue to top of pine cone.
Twist the chenille wires to form feet, then glue to bottom of pine cone.
Cut beak, glue on, and you’re done.

Easy, but not easy enough for little kids to construct on their own. Maybe if there was a good glue alternative, but at least with the pine cones I used, I don’t think anything else would have worked well.
