Creative Endeavors: Coat and Hat for Madeline

This is really lame, but I bought the materials for this project in October….of 2010.

But then someone gave us a coat for Madeline that year and I pushed it off.
I guess it’s a good thing I did.
She’s grown a lot this past year and all of her coats/jackets were making her look like the little brother on A Christmas Story so I figured it was about time to finally get down to business.

I think it turned out pretty cute and Madeline loves it.

The only real issue I had was that somehow the hat lining ended up too small for her head.

By that point I just didn’t care anymore, so her hat isn’t lined, which thankfully doesn’t seem to bother her.

Of course, my seam ripper and I have as close a relationship as always.

Whoops, I knew I forgot something. I guess there was a reason I made four flowers. Duh.

  1. Yep…before I saw the pictures, I thought, “This is gonna be good…”.

So adorable, Bek. And Madeline seems to love it. So happy!

  2. Ok that is so stinkin cute. I must learn to sew before Harley get’s too bug to let me put her in cute things anymore. Great job!

  3. You really are talented Bek! I love it! So super cute! I can’t wait until things settle down a bit so I can get my stuff out and start crafting again. SOOOOO cute!!!

  4. Wow, Rebekah, what a beautiful rosey ensemble! Madeline looks so sweet — like she just stepped out of a storybook!

Thank you for always having something wonderful to share on “A Little Birdie Told Me…” Tuesday!

I got a kick out of your Christmas Story reference too! LOL!

  5. I’m late to the party…just now saw this post. What a BEAUTIFUL coat! Jenn has it right. My mother always refers to unusually beautiful children as ‘story book children’ and Madeline certainly fits the bill!

  6. I’m visiting from the White Wolf Summit link up.

I certainly don’t think you’re lame – I have fabric in my stash from 15 years ago that I have’t used. It’s amazing though, I find that I unearth a piece exactly when I need it. You just weren’t meant to use this piece until now – – and what a marvelous job you did! A lovely winter outfit for a lovely litle girl!!

  7. She is so darn cute!! We are so glad that you linked up to our “Strut Your Stuff Saturday”. We hope you will come back next Saturday and share another great idea! -The Sisters
