Day 12: The most inspiring book of the year

This one probably won’t come as a surprise, because I’ve mentioned it before, but I knew I couldn’t write about my favorite books without listing Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand at some point.

Unbroken is a true story about a young American lieutenant who survived against all odds after his plane crashed in the Pacific during WWII.

As inspiring and incredible as this story is, it’s the message of redemption that really grabbed hold of me.  After enduring the atrocities of a Japanese POW camp, this man not only survived, but learned to love and forgive his captors.

I don’t often keep books after reading them, but this biography has earned a permanent spot on my bookshelf, so I can loan it out to as many people as I can convince to read it.

You can view the rest of the series here.

  1. I am pretty sure this is one that Bro. Degerlund read and is on my to get list! I have a HUGE list of books that I want to read and buy. I am going to start a monthly check list of books that I am wanting to read!

  2. Probably one of the best books I have ever read. I shouldn’t have waited so long after you told me about it to buy it. And then I shouldn’t have waited so long after I bought it to actually read it. I seriously couldn’t hardly put it down.
