DIY Baby Shoes

I attempted my first pair of baby shoes the other day for little Rebekah.

I found a great pattern and tutorial over at fleetingthing.  It was really easy to follow with lots of pictures and detailed steps, and the pair I made turned out pretty well.
I was going to post my own step-by-step but she did such a great job that there really isn’t much point.

The ruffles were a little wonky so I added some crocheted flowers to cuten (is that even a word?) them up a little.

Obviously there’s lots of room for improvement. Next time I think I’ll try to pick a fabric that will be easier to match a thread to so it doesn’t show as much on the ruffles, and I’m not sure that my elastic placement was quite right.
Someone else needs to have a baby so I can try again!

They were too big for Rebekah’s itty bitty feet, but hopefully she’ll be able to wear them soon.

  4. They are really cute, I made a pair out of felt, they did not turn out so great, cute to look at, but they would not stay on… yours with the elastic band look better! Will have to try that. Thanks for posting.

  5. So cute! I love the stitching on the fabric, I think it gives it a little personality. Can I have some in my size??? Stopping by from creation corner.

  6. Too Cute!! I’m impressed! I’ve tried something similar before from a Simplicity pattern… NOT so simple! They turned out two totally different sizes!! Kudos to you!
