On Life and Goals

I thought I would do a little goal update since it’s been quiiiite a while since I’ve done anything like that.

Basically…I’m a failure.

I think the only goals I even made public this year were my reading goals and my read-aloud goals.   And so far I’m failing miserably at both.

We started the second book in the Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place series in January and STILL haven’t finished it.  It’s not that we don’t like it…we do.  It’s not that we don’t have time…we probably do.  Honestly, by the time we’ve finished school I just don’t want to bother most days.  It hasn’t been happening during lunch, which is what worked for us last year, so I’m trying to get in the habit of reading a chapter at bedtime.  So we’re more than two books behind schedule and who knows if we’ll catch up.

My personal reading has been weird.  I’ve been way overloading myself with library books and haven’t read a single title on my to-read shelf this year.  I’m forcing myself to not check out any more books from the library until I read a few from my own shelves, though, so hopefully I’ll make some progress soon.  I tell myself that it’s either read them or get rid of them because my shelves are overflowing and they’ve been taking up space for a long time.  Bad me, I know.

I had some blogging goals that have more or less fallen by the wayside during my extremely frustrating final three months with Godaddy.  I’m still trying to get everything set up the way I like it after switching hosts so I’m just focusing on that for now.

I’m itching to sew more and had this crazy idea of making an entire collection of clothes for the girls this spring, but I have no idea if it will materialize or not. I kind of hope so.

I’ve been considering posting weekly goals to maybe help keep me accountable so that may be showing up soon.  I’m very goal-oriented and crossing stuff off my to-do list is one of my favorite things in the world to do.  I know…I’m a nerd.  Jerm tells me all the time.

Anybody else having better success at keeping up with their goals than I am?

  1. Well… I did decide that I needed to take some time from work and get some of my “need to do” items done also. Jared will not be taking this time off with me so it’s all on me to get done. I am taking all of Harley’s spring break off work. That’s the week starting the 14th. I will have 9 days off and Easter falls in there. I am planning to get alot done, if that happens I will be pleased. Here is a list of things I would like to accomplish.
1.) Paint kitchen, guest bath and hallway, Master bath and Master Bedroom.
    2.) Re-Furbish two bar stools
    3.) Work on flower bed
4.) Seed, fertilize and lime the yards
5.) Have a few fun things to do with the kids. (gonna picnic at the park a few times.)
