True confession: I have to frequently hold myself back from pinning a bunch of jewelry tutorials while browsing Pinterest.
There are several reasons for this:
#1 – I don’t really wear much in the way of jewelry. I love earrings and wear the occasional necklace…when I remember (which is almost never).
#2 – Other than a few stray beads (and I’m not sure where they even came from), I have no jewelry-making supplies. And I’ve told myself that until I clear some of the ridiculousness out of my craft nook, I’m not allowed to buy new stuff.
Despite my intentions, I’ve still pinned a few things that I feel my life wouldn’t be complete without (insert eye roll here). Apparently I’m not as self-disciplined as I’d like.
I found a roll of pleated satin ribbon and some trim and realized I could make something without any fancy supplies.
I cut a piece of the pleated ribbon (I didn’t measure my wrist and it ended up being a little too big, so definitely measure), turned the ends over and stitched them down. It can be left, as is, or trim can be cut to a slightly longer length and stitched down the middle of the ribbon. Make sure the ends overlap some, so they can be wrapped around the ends of the ribbon.
Hand stitch a small piece of elastic cording (to the underside) of one end and a pretty button (to the front) of the other end, and you’re all done!
It only took about ten minutes to make one of these, required no new tools, and used up some of my overflowing supply stash. My kind of project. 🙂
I don’t wear bracelets (it goes back to being a non-accessorizer), but I think a lace one with a crystal button would be really pretty.
