We had a pretty killer time at Susannah’s birthday party last weekend. When she told me she wanted a cupcake theme I immediately had visions of giggling little girls baking their own cupcakes and wearing frilly aprons, and for once, the result was pretty close to what I imagined.
I did end up baking the cupcakes ahead of time, because it didn’t seem like a great idea to heat up the house in the middle of the afternoon with that many people in the house, but I don’t think the girls minded.
They had a blast decorating their own cupcakes – and tasting them, of course!
I made them each a ruffly apron and tissue-paper bakers hat and they all looked very adorable. (Madeline refused to wear her hat. Stinker.)
They also each received their own cupcake stand and took a box of their creations home with them.
We had fruit, pizza, and a strawberry cake (same cake two years in a row – this girl loves her strawberries) when the cupcakes were done, but my camera batteries died before we lit the candles so I didn’t get any present or cake photos.
I do so love my little brown-eyed wild child. Can’t believe she’s six already.
Prepare yourself for photo overload!
As much fun as it was, I’m still relieved that I have nine months before I have to plan another party!
